Providers of Energy Performance Certificates in the South East
Specialists in Domestic and Commercial EPCs
HI Southern is an independent company dedicated to producing EPCs, domestic and commercial.
From 1 October 2008, almost without exception, all new and existing domestic and commercial property placed on the market require an EPC, including rental property.
EPCs are the result of a European Union directive requiring similar action throughout the EU. England and Wales have a common system whilst Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own variations on the theme.
There are a number of training bodies for Energy Assessors within England and Wales which attempt to ensure that data collection by all Energy Assessors is consistent thus permitting EPCs to be compared objectively.
Our Energy Assessors have been trained and accredited by BRE (Building Research Establishment) in conjunction with the UWE (University of the West of England).
What is an EPC?
An EPC is a document designed to provide data to prospective purchasers and tenants, regarding the energy efficiency of premises in which they are interested. The results of the energy assessment are presented in an easy-to-read, bar-chart format.
The ratings are based on many criteria, including age, construction, style of property, layout, heating, lighting and insulation.
A recommendation report which is included gives an indication of measures which may improve the rating and by how much.
